The Gulf of Alaska is a section of the Pacific Ocean distinct by the curve of the southern coast of Alaska, extending from the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island in the west to the Alexander Archipelago in the east, where Glacier Bay and the Inside Passage are found.

The photograph shows that foam is formed between the two oceans meeting in the middle of Gulf of Alaska. It looks like the two oceans are crashing instead of mixing. It is believed that the foam was responsible for melting of glacier which is composed of fresh water.

The oceans belong to two different geographic regions which means that their temperature, salinity, density, amount of direct sunlight received completely differ. This is the reason why the two oceans mix together but do not mix.
